The third day of the expedition takes us deep into Kvaløya, Norway’s fourth-largest island, where the raw power of the Arctic is on full display. Driving through the Kaldfjord and Ersfjordbotn, you witness mountains that seem to rise vertically from the freezing sea, creating a landscape of dramatic shadows and light.

One of the most magical moments is the encounter with wild reindeer, a true symbol of the north, roaming freely against the backdrop of the towering peaks. The journey continues toward a place that feels like a geographical glitch: Sommarøy, known as the 'Arctic’s Caribbean'.

The transition is surreal. You leave the rugged mountain passes behind and arrive at beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters and powdery white sand. While the scenery looks tropical, the crisp Arctic air reminds you exactly where you are. We explore local architecture, from traditional turf-roofed houses to modern coastal life, before making a final stop for supplies. This is the perfect blend of serenity and wild exploration—a final farewell to the mainland before the journey shifts toward the high Arctic of Svalbard.
